Play Ball With Your Team and Work With the Willing

In my 16 years in Network Marketing there is a strategy that I have found to be universally effective!  That is the strategy of “playing ball”. As a Top Leader in my company, I have worked with hundreds of distributors across the globe.  I’ve also worked closely with 70 of those distributors in supporting them to leadership positions.  I can attribute my success to two key factors.

#1 – Lead by example!  Do what it is I am asking my team to do and keep myself, a key player on the team, in the field.

#2 – Play ball with my team and work with the willing!  I am not their boss and I am not willing to drag anyone across the finish line.  I will however work with anyone who raises their hand and is willing to set goals, focus on daily activities and be accountable.  Enjoy the following tips on Playing Ball With Your Team!

In Network Marketing, we are in business for ourselves but we are never BY ourselves. To maximize your success and create duplication, you may want to take note of the “Playing Ball” Strategy and apply it to your business.

Here’s how it works. When you first enroll your new team member (or when your teammates are ready to move up in the business), consider inviting them to “play ball”. Let them know that what this means is that you will match your time and energy with their effort and accountability.

Make note that this strategy is most effective with new Distributors.  This provides them with support and also, shows you where to put your time and energy. Work with the willing and watch your business grow!!!

When they first enroll make sure that they know what the Getting Started Steps are and how to access the company Training Materials and Conference Calls.  Let them know that you are there for them and the best way to get their questions answered.

An example of “playing ball” is when you schedule a time for their first 3 three-way calls and ask them to get back to you within 24 hours with the names of those that they have confirmed appointments with. THIS IS KEY!  When they get back to you with the names OR even with a request for help to get confirmed appointments, they are indicating that they are wanting to “play ball”.

(Note – this strategy can be translated over when working with students or coaching clients.)

Here’s what I share with my new teammates:

“In our industry, we are ‘our own boss’, no one is going to chase you or require you to be accountable or keep in close contact. However, you do have the very special opportunity of sticking close and getting one on one training and support. When you have a question or need something, you toss the ball into my court. To maximize our time and provide you with your answers in writing, this is typically done via email.

When you ask me a question, you can be certain that I will get back to you with in answer in less than 24 hours, as you have tossed the ball into my court.

When I ‘toss the ball back into your court’ with my reply, I will know that you are ready for the next step, when you get back to me. This is a wonderful system as no one will be hounding or chasing you. You set the pace and I’ll be here to back you.

The ball is now in your court. You can take an hour, or a day or a month or more to get back to me, I’ll know that you are ready for the next step when you get back to me, by tossing the ball back into my court with your update, questions or results. BUT when the ball is in YOUR court, as an independent business owner, YOU are responsible for taking the next step.

Know that I am here and I will always match my time and energy with your effort and accountability.

If things are not going well, or you are not getting the results you feel you deserve or desire, please know that you can contact me and let me now what is going on and that you’d like support in taking your business to the next level.

By playing ball, regardless of the results, you are indicating that you are serious about building your business. Take it one day at a time, stick close and keep in mind the simple, duplicatable steps and daily activities of our business.”

Here’s to your success!

In my 15 years in Network Marketing there is a strategy that I have
found to be universally effective! That is the strategy of “playing ball”.
In Network Marketing, we are in business for ourselves but we are
never BY ourselves. To maximize your success and create duplication,
you may want to take note of the “Playing Ball” Strategy
and apply it to your business.

Here’s how it works. When you first enroll your new team member
(or when you or your teammates are ready to move up in the business),
consider inviting them to “play ball”. Let them know that what this means
is that you will match your time and energy with their effort and accountability.

Make note that this strategy is most effective with new Distributors.
This provides them with support and also, shows you where to put your
time and energy. Work with the willing and watch your business grow!!!

When they first enroll you teach this to them one on one and
through three way calls. Then you make sure that they know
where the System Training Webinars are. Let them know that you
are there for them and that the best way to ask their questions
are either via email (so that they can receive their answer in writing
and print off for their notebook) or via phone through three-way calls
with people they would like to introduce SOC to.

An example of “playing ball” is when you schedule a time for their
first 3 three-way calls and ask them to get back to you within 24
hours with the names of those that they have confirmed appointments
with. THIS IS KEY! When they get back to you with the
names OR even with a request for help to get confirmed appointments,
they are indicating that they are wanting to “play ball”.

Here are some thoughts to share with your Distributors:

“I want you to know how excited I am for the opportunity to be able
to work with you. Please share with me again, what your goals
are for your SOC business. Are you wanting to make back your
investment or are you wanting to generate significant income? “
(Regardless of what they say, schedule a time to hold their first 3
three-way calls, ideally back to back on the same day.)

Continue with, “Being that we are ‘our own boss’, no one is going to
chase you or require you to be accountable or keep in close contact.

By playing ball, regardless of the results, you are indicating that you

are to send a card every day and show someone else how to send
a card. Here’s to your success!
